Clinical Therapy
I offer telehealth therapy or sessions outside in nature. I would consider my approach ‘eclectic,’ which is a nice blanket statement for using many approaches. Therapy does not need to be rigid or repetitive - we change it as we go and throw out the things that aren’t helpful.
My style might be described as relational, authentic, and warm - oh and sometimes silly! I enjoy using humor and offering support around slowing down, connecting with the body, and offering voice to inner truth.
Sometimes I might serve as a coach - offering solutions or assisting with problem-solving, and other times we may be practicing a breathing exercise or whimsically exploring complex relationships from a broader perspective.
As a therapist I can offer a soft place to land as you work towards deeper freedom, empowerment, and clarity.
Fee for Service, Good Faith Estimate
Therapy sessions will be $152.00 per 55-minute session. Telehealth is offered by request or in the event of inclement weather.
At times a two-hour session may be preferred outdoors. Two-hour sessions are billed at $220.00.
Payments are to be received on the day of service. Your credit card held on file will be charged the same day following your session through the electronic health record platform, Therapy Notes.
Missed appointments or cancellations less than 24 hours in advance of the appointment time will be charged a fee of $100.00, barring extreme circumstances.
Good Faith Estimate: A good faith estimate of client costs is available upon scheduling or at your request.
Nature-based therapy
Interacting with nature has proven to have positive impacts on mood, cognition, and creativity, in addition to assisting with stress management (Kasap, Ağzıtemiz, & Ünal, 2021). Studies indicate decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression via nature recreation (Lackey, et. al., 2019).
For nature clients, telehealth will be offered should the weather be dangerous or unbearably cold. Being outside year-round is good for the mind and body, though pausing and reflecting is of course easier when it is warm out! I let clients set the pace and decide to sit or move as they wish.

On Insurance
I am in network with Premera, Aetna, and Cigna, and am otherwise considered an out of network provider.
When out-of-network, I am able to offer a ‘super bill’ to submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company to determine the rules and restrictions around your mental health coverage.
If you need to verify out-of-network coverage or request preauthorization from your health insurance provider before we meet, my license is under Brittany Torgerson, license number for Washington is LW 61531766 and my NPI is 1114748605. In Massachusetts, LICSW1121528.
Some questions to ask your insurance provider are:
Do I have outpatient mental health coverage?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
What percentage of my bill will be covered for services with an out-of-network provider?
How many sessions will be covered per calendar year?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.
I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.
Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.
And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.”
